Castles in Cyprus
Kyrenia Castle can be located on the northern coast of Cyprus.
A large portion of the castle was built in the early 13th century, and it was used as a resting place in times of peace by Lusignan kings. It has survived several sieges and four years of war to become one of the main tourist attractions in the area.
Kolossi Castle in Cyprus is a stronghold situated a few kilometers outside Limassol.
Built in 1210 by Frankish military, this Stone fortress was once the home of Richard the Lionheart who conquered Cyprus in the 12 century. The castle contained facilities for the production of sugar, one of the island’s main exports in the Middle Ages.
