Castles in Scotland
Brodick Castle can be found on the island of Arran, on the west coast of Scotland.
Built as protection against the Vikings, over the centuries a fortress and other sections of the building have been added on. Brodick now houses an art collection and has a world famous rhododendron collection in the garden.
Caerlaverock Castle in southwest Scotland is a unique moated triangular castle.
Built in 1270 and owned by the Maxwell family, it was besieged several times and underwent partial demolition and reconstruction before being abandoned in the 17th century. It is now a protected and listed building.
